I have : REV 4.2 B2000 w/ 68010 2x2052/2 = 4MB RAM Hardframe/2000 v1.5C firmware A2088 Bridgecard [...other stuff...] and have never had any problems like either of you have described. My 2052s are a little strange though. They have writing in magic marker all over them and have A25000 printed in the lower corner where the model number usually goes (I believe that the number).
