Ultrix is quite happy to run "chpt", "newfs", and mount partitions on this disk. So I can at least keep my files on it. However, when I dug out the Ultrix 4.2 install tapes, and tried to make a standalone system, I got as far as the part where the install procedure says setenv boot "5/rz0/vmunix -a" boot and then exits to the boot ROM. At this point, a "boot" command causes the drive to move the heads around, and then nothing further happens. If I reboot ultrix from my server, and "od /dev/rrz0a", I can see the bits that appear match /usr/mdec/bootblks. Has anyone gotten this combo to work as a boot device, or have any ideas about what I might have overlooked? Please email replies to me, and I will summarize Thanks in advance, Ric (ric@cs.arizona.edu uunet!arizona!ric )
