Sounds just like the keyboard on the 9000/300 I've got here. Same delete problem, this one has two keys, one is for Gods sake! And the other is, as Mike says, off to the right hand side. What I want to know is does the 700 keyboard still have the '/' key right up the top of the keyboard, and to add insult to injury you have to shift to obtain it. On a Unix workstation this is nothing short of absurd!
