I know very little about the current "state-of-the-art" but would like to ask... Operating Systems: Mostly DOS? Any UNIX flavors? Wouldn't paging activity reduce battery life? Do all the 386's allow multi-tasking? Windowing Environments: X? MS-Windows? Networking: What can you do with a laptop? Do they all have 2400 baud modems? Is the software available to get hooked onto USENET/UUCP? How expensive is connection to USENET/UUCP? Who would like to define the "state-of-the-art" in the price ranges of under 1000, 1000-2000, 2000-3000, and so on? [As I know how these kind of questions appear annoying on some groups I regularly read... e-mail would be fine. Helpful responders can Cc' their advice to "rahauser@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu".] -- R. R.
