You set up the timer from the control panel, as you describe. Then you select the timer (by clicking on the time/date/timer you can cycle through them). At the top of the little clock on the right of the timer is a little button. When you click it, the timer starts counting. If you then select the date or time, when the timer goes off you return automatically to the timer. Seems pretty intuitive to me. Steve Goldfield
