Message-ID: <22512@brahms.udel.edu> Date: 30 Jun 91 22:21:36 GMT Distribution: usa Organization: University of Delaware Lines: 20 Hi netters: I have some questions about GIFs. I have been working with GIFs for a while now, and I can download them on my IBM via FTP very efficiently. Since the NCSA Telnet on our school's Mac do not function properly, I can't use FTP to download GIFs from Unix to a mac. I thought about the Apple File exchange program on Mac which will enable me to convert an IBM file into a Mac file, using the default translation. But after I got the file in Mac, I can't have Giffer, Vision lab or QuickGif to recognize it as a Gif file. Something must have gone wrong. I even used MS word to convert it into a text file, or use Text translation with AFE, but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to use Apple File Exchange to do the job, OR if it doesn't, how would I get a decent FTP program on the Mac? I have a Hyper FTP which runs with MacTCP, but I dont know where to get MacTCP. I would appreciate any help from you. Thanks a lot!! Lei
