Now what very well may be the case is if you use EA or ES on the Finder, that DD isn't reloading when the Finder runs for the second time. I don't think that's a bug since DD isn't really part of the Finder and forcing applications to quit that don't want to isn't really a nice thing to do to well-behaved extensions like DD. If you are using EA and ES to escape from other applications, something strange is going on, because I do that all the time without hurting DD at all. cheers...
