Lines: 25 Nntp-Posting-Host: robbie.acns.nwu.edu Since I can't afford buying a 9600 bps modem, I went down to the street and bought the Zoom 2400bps V42.Bis ,.... And a traditional Mac-to-Modem Cable. Of course, it doesn't work at all! Here's my questions: 1. Am I buying a real NeXT-specific (Hayes Compaitible) Modem? 2. Am I using the right cable or I need to order the $15 black one from NeXT Connection? 3. All I wanna do is connecting my NeXT Station to those Cubes in schools to read News and check mails, Does those V42 Bis with Mnp error control stuff really help? I found some generic Modem with same baudrate 2400 costs $100 less. 4. Is my modem going to work with SLIP? Or what other software could we get? Please give me any suggestions before it's too late for me to return the Zoom modem. Thanks a lot! Gary NeXT-Mail : garyc@robbie.acns.nwu.edu
