Message-ID: <1991Jun30.214707.26996@murdoch.acc.Virginia.EDU> Date: 30 Jun 91 21:47:07 GMT Sender: usenet@murdoch.acc.Virginia.EDU Organization: The Turing Machine/Public Access Unix/THE University Lines: 17 I help run and maintain a public-access Unix system here at the University of Virginia... We accept guest logins, but I have been a little apprehensive of the whole situation, since we offer un-restricted access for our users... I've been wondering if there's a way to keep a log, using "script" or another command of this type, of all guest activity, but make this unreadable and un- writable by guest... Preferably, we would put something in /etc/profile that would execute a script if the username was guest, and start up the loggers and such, and maybe do some additional fingers/etc to the originating address... Of course we'd put in the guest welcome screen that all activities were being logged to disk... :) Only fair to the users... Any suggestions? - Ed (eas@turing.acs.virginia.edu)
