We want to use them in a DEC environment with DECWindows, but we will also want to work with OpenWindows and other X-windows thingys (besides good terminal emulation). Are they pretty fast? Is 4Mb enough memory? How is the support? Any other insights would be appreciated. Thanks! Possibly relevant - I am at this moment using an NCD color 17" display X term over a 9600 baud line running Xremote from a Sun 4/330. We have used this at work over Ethernet and the performance was resonably good. this model has 4MB which is sufficient. I use MIT distribution of X and tvtwm which is no problem. Support was pretty good from local sales office and the e-mail support is support@ncd.com and provided some help in answering my questions about getting started up and why Framemake is so slow with Xremote. xengine runs about 48 rpm over the 9600 baud line which is more a function of the Xremote speed than the display speed. -- John C.
