Well the S&W 66 which you mentioned is a K frame (only thing smaller is the J
frame snubbies).  there is also the 67 (I like mine a lot) which is a stainless
K frame 38.  If you go to 686 you get L frame which is bigger, but basically
the K frame is a medium frame.
