news(1) arrives
This is the first non-test use of the Duke news program, which tentatively
supersedes our previous mail-based information utilities.  Aside from the
general-distribution newsgroup 'general', current newsgroups here are
'gripes', 'hacknews', 'comments', and 'humour' [sic], replacing the
earlier programs, plus the 'test' newsgroup for news testing and various
'NET' newsgroups in anticipation of our arrival on Usenet.
