We are up with a slightly different set of SMC mode settings:  we are now
trusting the ECC system (gulp) but doing write verifies.  This came about
because just now we had what looked to be bad spots (persistent ECC's)
appear spontaneously in the inode areas of two filesystems.  They went
away again, either when those areas were written or simply after a delay.
Something is very fishy in the controller, the drive, or the pack.  Pray
for your data.
