There's been a lot of general noise, the usual run of transient errors having nothing to do with disk flakiness per se (except insofar as a tendency towards transient errors may be a symptom thereof), and a couple of rather scary errors where the disk reported a block as 100% ok in a write verify except that the verify failed, i.e. the data was wrong (assuming we can believe the verify results...). This is all getting rather exasperating. It is not at all clear that, given a choice, we would buy an SMC again.
