disk hassles
V6 and V7 have swapped packs, as a result of the incredible disk hassles
of last week.  (This also isn't the same disk drive as before.)  This pack
is noticeably cleaner, which should help.  For the moment we are running
with write verifies on and patience off to gain data on remaining disk
problems.
