post mail/news slowness
the long pause after the last item of mail or news before one gets prompt
back is a pain.
[Yes, but to some extent this is the price one pays for useful features.
If one's mailbox is not actually updated until one has gone through it
(thus making it possible to exit with the mailbox unchanged), then the
mailbox must be updated at the end.  Similarly, the price for having the
system remember when YOU have last read the news is having the system
record that information at the end.  It may be possible to speed some of
this up;  this is being looked at.				-- henry]
