Modified init(8) slightly to be more informative about its problems
when it runs into trouble opening tty's etc.  It will now print a
console message and then sleep for a few seconds to avoid thrashing.
While it sleeps ps will display !ttyxx! instead of (ttyxx).

This is not installed yet due to the necessity to reboot the system
for installation;  this will happen in the next day or two.
