Autzoo.1133 hacknews utzoo!henry Tue Nov 17 22:59:47 1981 cu(1) and CSRG line I have reworked cu(1) a bit. Two changes. First, the "dir" or telephone number now goes after the options, not before. Second, there is a -d flag which means "don't hangup the line when I ~."; without the -d option, it hangs up on termination. Old shellfiles will have to be changed, and those people who use things other than cu itself on outgoing lines will have to remember -d if they want the line to stay connected. Sorry, there is no easy way to set things up to permit deciding this at ~. time. As a consequence of the above, the switch-flipping nonsense for using the CSRG line is obsolete. I have changed the strapping option within the Gandalf to work properly with the cu mods. To connect to CSRG, the following now suffices: cu -l /dev/tty39 -s 9600 dir When you do this, you should see "Connected" and then a few seconds later Dmitri should speak up. If cu refuses on grounds like "tty access", it probably means someone else is using the line. Of course, if you want to ~. out and then go back in (say at some other speed), you'll need -d.
