I've suggested in the past that the #defines in param.h be parameterized
with '#ifdef vax' -- you can use much larger tables, and considerably
improve performance if address space isn't a problem.  In fact, you may
want to increase ARTSIZ and NNREC on your own -- with the volume of
news we get, the defaults are far too low.  You should also get the
latest netnews A from duke; it's much faster.

What puzzles me about your bug report is that I thought news prevented
the creation of subscription lists that are too long.  Did someone
edit .uindex manually?
