another DZ flake
DZ D flaked still again.  I had some time for a bit of experimenting this
time;  it is now clear that only the output half of the hardware/software
combination breaks.  Input still works fine, and in fact I could type
commands "blind" and have them run.  The precise reasons for output stopping
are yet to be determined;  I took a dump and will study it when I have time.

In hopes of finding out what exactly is responsible for this irritating
behavior, I plan to shuffle DZs shortly (tomorrow?) so that D can be
sent to Wern's shop for some exercising under controlled conditions,
and we can see if it still happens with a different DZ in that slot.
