Autzoo.1172 hacknews utzoo!henry Tue Dec 1 18:46:30 1981 Rogue A binary of a pdp11 version of rogue has been installed in /usr/games. This is a slightly older version than exists on the CSRG VAX; in particular, there are no rings or wands. There is nobody in the top ten yet. And it appears to misbehave on vc303 and vc303a terminals; this may be a termcap botch, I will investigate at some point. Some documentation can be had by "/usr/doc/run rogue". The funny permissions on the binary are deliberate. Rogue is highly addictive and, being a quite large program, is rather hard on system performance. It's a lot of fun but it must not be allowed to interfere with "real work". So, rogue enthusiasts are hereby warned -- there will be no other warning -- to be very careful about system load and very circumspect about when they play. I do NOT intend to yell at people about this; I will take action instead. If I catch people playing rogue at the same time as other people are trying to do serious work, I reserve the right to kill all rogue processes and make the game unplayable for an arbitrary period (I am talking days, not minutes). If I have to do this too often, I will impose unpleasant restrictions on rogue, up to and including deleting it from the system. I insist on, and by Ghod will GET, a very high standard of self-policing on these matters, or rogue will just have to go.
