It can be done...
Yes, it is possible to win the game with no extra fudges.
However, in my case it took a lot of luck, including several
magic items. I didn't find any scrolls of genocide, but I only
encountered about 7 or 8 Umber Hulks before I got back to
level 17. I killed those by polymorphing or drain life spells.
No weird arrows, etc. By the way, I was armor class 9 until
level 24! However, if I remember right, I started the game with
strength 18. I'll report Teklabs scores when we get our main
memory (and therefore permission to play games) returned.
