A Question of Taste
I suggested the net.jokes.q newsgroup, and, indeed, it has gotten
off the ground.  I agree that vile stuff should not be contributed 
to any newsgroup, net.jokes or otherwise.  I would think that grownups
would have the intelligence not to submit jokes like "Why do I hate Andy?
'Cuz he's a Jew, that's why..."  Jokes about buggerring (sp?) camels
and Polish recipes for ice cubes can be quite fun, though some people would
rather not see them.  Affirmative Action, whether you think it is worthwhile
or ridiculous, is a reality to be reckoned with, and we (BTL'ers particularly)
should not go out of our way to get ourselves in trouble.

SO, I suggest we let net.jokes.q continue, that way, folks whose stomaches
don't have sufficiently thick linings to tolerate many babies in one
wastebasket or one baby in many wastebaskets may abstain from participation.
And, while telling jokes which some folks might find questionable, please
try to keep it from destroying itself.

If we sign all our mail with our names at the bottom, it would make this
network more personal, and it might make some people with lack of self
control think twice about sending something that they wouldn't ordinarily
sign their name to.
