Freedom of the Netwaves
So far, I have heard people complain about various newsgroups on the basis
that 1) they don't like what's in them, 2) their management wouldn't like
what's in them, or 3) the people who pay for them wouldn't like what's in them.

On the other side, people argue (or at least imply) that their rights to
read controversial material are being infringed.

Has it occurred to anyone that mechanisms exist to appease both sides?
If a site doesn't-like/won't-pay-for/can't-have a certain newsgroup, they
are perfectly free to not read it and not forward it.  Anyone *can* buy
pornagraphy... few do.  If a site doesn't mind controversial material,
they may continue to receive and forward it.  If individual readers are
bugged, let them unsubscribe!

As with most other things in this country (and north of the border), everyone
is free to do as they please.  Let's keep it that way.
