my delivermail eats messages to aliased users.
I am running 4.1bsd.  I was getting flakey service from Mail, because I
had comment fields on my aliases (so I thought), e.g.:

test:floyd!trb	# Andy Tannenbaum

newaliases did NOT complain about these comment fields, but my messages
were not getting through.  So I deleted the comment fields and made a new
aliases.* with newaliases.  The aliases.* were smaller, a good sign.  But
my mail to aliased things just disapears.  I now have an aliases file
that consists of one line:

test:trb

(it sends test to me).  I Mail to test and it just gets swallowed.
No error messages, no messages mailed to root or daemon or uucp or me.
Nothing.  Perplexing.  Any suggestions?
