One cause of truncated articles (at least in A netnews) is locking
problems.  The older versions of A are particularly prone to this; what
happens is that insertion takes so long the next insertion attempt
times out and dies.  I have no idea, however, *why* this should cause
truncated articles; I've merely observed that it does.
