Personally, I think that the sort of dialog between manufacturers and
users that Bill Shannon was trying to generate benefits both groups in the
long run, and should be encouraged.  A USENET news article is a good way to
go about asking this sort of question because it's one of the best ways to
reach the people who would use such a product.  I think it's a LOT easier
to justify the presence of technical material such as this on the net than
some of the other stuff which goes by.
