gripe replies...
The ideal, as dwt suggests, is for an edited original to be classed
as "new news" so people see it.  Simply resubmitting it may not be
the best idea, as copies of "hot" items would tend to pile up (it
also does not solve the problem of non-hacks wishing to reply or
rebut).  Some revisions to the news software to make life easier in
this direction may be possible;  stay tuned.
