There is good news and bad news.  The good news is that the "new" drive
seems to be ok.  The bad news is that the heads on the "old" drive have
drifted far enough off alignment that the current production pack is
not readable on the new drive.  For the moment we are running a two-drive
system (more or less) which will simplify the reformat-and-rebuild job.
Detailed timing and strategy for the drive cutover have not yet been
decided.
