We made our first real-live Usenet connection tonight, and got a fair
pile of stuff over (we happened to connect just after a Bell site which
relays a fair bit of stuff to Duke connected, so we got the evening's
goodies).  Persons with subscriptions to NET stuff should check
"newsgroups" -- there have been changes.  Notably, all the ArpaNet
discussion groups are now prefixed with "fa." rather than "NET.".

For the moment we are getting everything Usenet will send;  if our
long-distance bills get too exorbitant, we may have to cut out some
of the heavy items.  We shall see.

Actually, people interested in this stuff should probably monitor the
newsgroup list closely for the next little while -- more updating is
to be expected, as we have been cut off from up-to-date information
for several months.
