saving/discarding mail
The "mail" program now accepts (and handles properly) 'y' and 'n'
as responses when it asks '?'.  'y' means save, 'n' means discard.
This didn't quite work before:  'y' meant save but 'n' meant "keep
it around for the next time I read mail".
