Record Club of America
I joined RCofA when I was in high school.  It was indeed the best club
by far.  When I joined, I sent them 5 dollars and they sent 3 albums, with
NO obligation to get any more (I don't know how they did it!).  One of their
special deals was -- buy 1, get 1 free, buy another, get 2 free!  I pulled
a sneaky trick by buying cheapies (101 Strings) and specifying good albums
for the freebies.  Needless to say, they quickly took the cheapies out of the
selections for that special.

I haven't seen any ads for RCofA for many many years.  I assume they couldn't
