We are over 100 newsgroups at ucbvax these days (administrator please listen)
and I have discovered an extremely galling feature--when readnews craps out
because of too many .newsrc lines, it fails to update the .newsrc file as it
dies. I think it would be a good idea to eliminate this feature, since it is
a royal time pain to say "yes n | readnews" after editing out a couple of fake
newsgroups from .newsrc.
   The second piece of bad news I have noticed lately comes out every time
I login. I have a "newscheck e" in my .login, and this causes the message
"readnews: Bad option string "HOME=/va/rigel/wildbill"", that last being
the home directory string in my environment. This doesn't seem right either.
Has anybody else noticed this?
