RMS's VMS deficiencies

    The deficiencies of VMS I described two years ago,
    which are in the file RMS;VMS > on MIT-AI,
    as far as I know have not been fixed.
    They add up to a lot of problems with trying to make
    a multi-process command environment (such as is used
    on ITS and Twenex) to run on VMS, plus lots of assorted
    uglinesses and things that can't be done.

I have edited in some comments (enclosed in '[]') and written it to
AI:RWK;VMS >.  While not "fixed", the situation is much improved.  In
particular, it is now much much easier to make the fixes, and generally
not require any changes to VMS as it is distributed.  Thus the
enhancements could be distributed as just another package and installed
by any competent system manager in 15 minutes or so.
