video arcade games
The most impressive video arcade game I've seen is something by Atari
called Battlezone (I think). It's a three dimensional tank game played
on an alien-looking terrain with various pyramids/cubes/etc around
to serve as cover. The display shows the view from the player's tank
turret. The game seems rather difficult (more so than Asteroids and
such things), because you can never turn your back on an enemy.
If you get a chance, take a look at one (they aren't terribly common
because they cost a lot more than the normal Atari video arcade game).
