Compiler support issue

Vendor support of compilers isn't all it's cracked up to be.  Does
anyone remember how long it took DEC to get PDP-11 Fortran to work
correctly?  (At least 5 years by my count.)  The usual SPR response
was "it is a problem, we'll fix it in a future release", which is
not my idea of support.

People who for one reason or another decide to use (ANSI) Fortran
to implement portable applications should at least consider using a
good preprocessor (RatFor highly recommended) to assist in good
coding style and future maintenance.
