2nd Followup on long .newsrc files
On advice from ucbvax!peter, I admit that my previous method suggested for
getting rid of long .newsrc files was a bit crude and non-hacker-like.
On his prompting, I am suggesting a Bourne shell file "clean.news" which
will accomplish the same thing in a much cleaner fashion.

ed - .newsrc > /dev/null <<!
2,\$d
w
q
!
yes n | readnews > /dev/null 

You might want to fork this one off in the background.  On a DUAL VAX 11/780,
it took almost 4 minutes to run with only 35 people logged on.  It took about
2 minutes CPU time.  But it sure cleans up your .newsrc file faster than you
could do it by hand.....
