Modified preserve(1) to know about a slight change in the format of
  tempfiles generated by the experimental editor that phyllis, andy, dwt
  myself, and ibrown use.
The lack of this change was the cause of some confusion last week when the
  system crashed and those people with 'e' temporaries got strange results
  when they tried to recover the session.
