According to the rules of AD&D, on which rouge is loosely based, metal
spoils the abilities of certain characters (mages, illusionists) and
therefore the armor that they wear must not contain *any* metal.  They are
allowed to wear leather armor, however, implying that there must not be
any metal used to hold it together.
