I obviously got the arithmetic wrong.  This actually happened
when there were still $25 bonds and they cost $18.75,
and I did the revisions wrong.  The correct analogy is
this:  I sell you the letter for $50, then you buy two
$50 bonds for $25 each and sell two copies of the letter
for $50 each.  Now you really ARE even.

Incidentally, the person to whom this happened is not
an invention -- this is a real individual with whom I
really did work at one time.
