fp constants and the C compiler
To give the orginal author of the pcc parent of the Vax compiler his due
(Steve Johnson), here is the very explicit comment in the offending code
which prints out floating constants in decimal:
	/* on the target machine, write it out in octal! */
So it was this way only for cross-compiling, and whoever ported it to the vax
never changed it once bootstrapped.  (If you want to fix it, it's fincode in
pcc/local.c.)
