	Not too surprisingly, this sort of chain letter has been around for
years. Almost exactly that wording showed up in one that hit my dorm in 1970.
The only difference was that it dealt in $20 money orders, so at least frauds
are keeping up with inflation. In case anyone missed the point: almost every-
one who bought one lost his $20: no matter how motivated the buyer (also
known, technically, as the sucker) is to resell the letter, he soon finds
that every else in the dorm, etc., is also stuck with one HE's trying to sell.
Your lucky friend's $1000 came from 20 unlucky suckers who were amazed when
they didn't also get rich.
