Bundles for Britain.
During World War II before Pearl Harbor, there was a campaign in the United
States called "Bundles for Britain".  It was run by some very enthusiastic
people who believed that Hitler had to be stopped.  One of their activities
consisted of importing RAF aces as speakers while they were recovering from
wounds (walking wounded) or otherwise prevented from flying.  One such officer
was Group Captain Jacques Francois of de Gaulle's FFI (attached to the RAF).
You must understand that the Group Captain spoke with a heavy French accent,
so I will alter the spelling below accordingly.  One day, Jacques was address-
ing a ladies club in a small midwestern town.  He was describing his experience
in which he received the wounds from which he was currently recovering.

GC J.F. "Alors, mesdames, I was flying at seex t'ousand feet when I noticed
   that there was ey fokker just below.  I looked about, and also deescuvair
   that there was another fokker just off my weeg teep a droit, and there
   was yet another fokker on my tail..."

Madam Chairperson: "Excuse me, Group Captain, I think I should explain that
   a fokker is a type of Germain air craft".

GC J.F. "No, madame, these fokkers were flying Messerschmitts".
