In talking with several network members, I have found quite a bit of interest
in the formation of a group to discuss problems with various types of
data communications hardware with which we might have common problems.  In
particular, hardware of interest seems to be the Develcon Dataswitch (port
selector) and Timeplex stat muxes.

Is there sufficient interest in data communications questions to warrent
a net.datacomm news group?  My feeling is that there is.  Subgroups could
be specific to different hardware which we may be maintaining (net.datacomm.
dataswitch, net.datacomm.timeplex, etc.)  Judging from the activity on
fa.info-terms, it seems that there are a lot of us who are heavily
involved in hardware maintenance and evaluation, and I would certainly
welcome the opportunity to discuss possible options and opinions with
others in the field.
