It has been my task to modify these terminals for "twisted mode;" i.e. having the screen display across the short axis. I notice that Ann Arbor has made a minor modification to the circuit that prevents successful modification: they have changed the value of the width adjustment coil. I have found that this can be remedied; if anyone trying to modify their terminal encounters difficulty, feel free to contact me. In fact, the Ann Arbor folks called me the other day to question me about this problem; seems someone had called them about twisted mode, but experienced problems. AA didn't know what was wring, since they have not tried out my modification, at least to the best of my knowledge. I was pleased to finally get a model with the real META key in it. I had implemented a meta key via hardware on my old unit, but it prevents parity operation on another computer that really prefers it. (If anyone needs hardware plans to modify an old ambassador for meta operation, contact me.) Finally, AA reports that the 132 column Ambassador will be out soon. This should be interesting. I wouldn't mind at all having the extra columns for compatibility with lisp machines, etc. (No COBOL allowed!) =John Shelton= -------
