Maybe it only `seems' to work, but I've had some luck in killing a monster
by backing up a step or two and then hitting it again. For example, I might
take 5 or 6 swings at kolold or jackal or whatever and get nowhere. But by
stepping back a step or two and trying again I'd kill it in one or two
tries. I'm not claiming the code is written to do this, just that I've
noticed it.
