It Seems That...
...there was an troop of Martians out on maneuvers (you could tell that they
were Martians; they had names like Xylph, Qorp, and Valentine Smith).
After several dozen months in the field (Martian months are much shorter
than Terrestrial ones, depending on whether you reckon by Deimos or 
Phobos) the CO had the troops mustered, to deliver a message.
   "Men", he said (of course they weren't men, but that's how the word
best translates), "I have some good news and some bad news.
I realize that you haven't had a change of underwear since we left base;
the good news is that today you get to change your underwear!
The bad news is...Qorp, you change with Smith. Xylph, you change with..."
