Distribution of mass would have no effect on Newton's constant G for situa- tions in which G can be used. Newtonian mechanics deal with 'point masses', so distributions are dealt with by integrating over several point masses. Remember, Newtonian mechanics are a subset which is generally valid for bodies 'not too large and not too small', but are not necessarily 'universal truth'. Steve Taylor
