One low frequency S-band transponder in the shuttle has failed.
However, the ship still has a high frequency S-band and a UHF
transponder.  Only the UHF is really crucial to the landing,
but NASA would consider cutting the flight if the other S-band
transponder gave out.  On the other hand, if windy conditions
persist into Monday at White Sands, NASA would possibly extend
the mission another day to provide better weather.  By conserving
fuel and power, they feel they could have one more day in orbit.
Nothing is definite yet, and a decision is expected late in the
weekend.
