First Message
This is the first submission on the new newsgroup "net.lang.apl".  I hope
this provides a place for many interesting discussions about the uses
and abuses of APL.  I think the best first use of this group would be
for all participants to identify the version of APL most accessible to
them, along with the kind of machine on which it is running.

I am currently using VSAPL running on IBM's TSS operating system running
here at Bell Labs at Indian Hill (Chicago).  This APL was converted from
the IBM CMS version.  Maximum WS size is 12megabytes, although no one
that I know has gotten close to this limit.  This version just recently
replaced an old (ancient) APL\360 version that was running here for many
years.


FIRST GENERAL QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:
What cannonical WS representations do people use to allow us to exchange
APL workspaces over this net? Or by tape?
